ICEMA EMS Credentialing

Credentialing allows individuals to work within the ICEMA region (Inyo, Mono and San Bernardino counties) when they meet the established requirements.

Credentialing is available for:

  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) certification
  • Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT-P) accreditation
  • Mobile Intensive Care Nurse (MICN) authorization (Administrative, Base Hospital, Critical Care Transport and Flight Nurse)

Effective August 15, 2014, EMT-Ps and MICNs will be able to download individual EMS credentials (accreditation and/or authorization cards) through the online ICEMA EMS Credentialing Portal. ICEMA will provide an electronic version of the card which can be downloaded to a smart phone or printed at any time, if needed. ICEMA will continue to print and mail State EMT and AEMT certification cards on behalf of EMSA.

No, the credentialing process may be completed using any internet connected computer. You will be required to enter the application through the ICEMA EMS Credentialing Portal so ICEMA strongly suggests you apply from home and upload any supporting documentation. If you do not have access to a scanner, you will receive instructions on how to submit documentation via mail, once you have applied.

Applications are accepted online through the ICEMA EMS Credentialing Portal or Click Here

The portal is available twenty-four (24) hours per day and seven (7) days per week.

The new ICEMA EMS Credentialing Portal has historical data on all AEMTs, EMTs, EMT-Ps and MICNs. If you currently have an ICEMA credential, or had one at any time, that account can be looked up by using your last name, birth date, and Social Security number.

If you are new to the ICEMA region and have NEVER had a credential with ICEMA, use the “Create an Account” link on the home page of the ICEMA EMS Credentialing Portal or Click Here.

Do not enroll in an EMT/AEMT course until you understand how your arrest and/or conviction may affect your ability to be certified as an EMT/AEMT. There are certain crimes for which EMT/AEMT certification may never be granted to applicants. There are other crimes which require applicants to wait up to five (5) years before applying for an EMT/AEMT certificate, and other crimes for which applicants may be granted delayed, probationary or unrestricted EMT/AEMT status. Full disclosure and official documentation are required with the EMT/AEMT application. ICEMA receives DOJ/FBI notification of the results through the Live Scan process. Please contact the ICEMA office if you have additional questions or concerns.

The NREMT certificate will be accepted without further testing to qualify for an EMT/AEMT certificate, but to practice in California you must also have a separate EMT/AEMT certificate issued by ICEMA or other certifying entity.
